This guide will build on the starting from scratch guide. We will cover how to add optional columns to your profile CSV. For a full list of optional columns and the information stored in them, please visit our profile documentation here.

<aside> ℹ️ This how-to is going to be using the Ron’s editor CSV editor to add optional columns to your CSV. The process will be relatively the same no matter what CSV editor you use.

  1. Adding optional columns to your profile CSV is similar to adding required columns, but these are chosen by you to best suit your needs. Let's start with a profile CSV that has only the required columns. The concept remains the same if you are adding to a profile CSV that already includes more than just the required columns.

  1. Now, let's add a new column to our CSV.

<aside> ℹ️ To add new columns in Ron’s editor, right click on the cell and select “Insert Column Before” or “Insert Column After” to create any additional columns.

  1. I will be adding a group column in this guide, but the concept is going to remain the same when adding any other optional columns to your CSV.

<aside> ℹ️ You can edit the name of a column in Ron’s editor by right clicking on the cell and selecting “Edit Columns”.

  1. We have now added an optional column to our profile CSV, any other optional columns that you want to add you will need to follow steps 2 and 3 listed above.
