Use this quick-start guide to install and set up JancyX as a permanent Firefox extension (JancyX is a permanent extension as of version 1.15.0 and later). If you are installing JancyX as a temporary extension (v1.14.0 and earlier), click here.
Important: JancyX cannot be used unless Jancy is running locally on your computer. If the extension cannot maintain connection to a local copy of Jancy, it will be disabled. See Configure Authentication with Jancy for more info.
Important: If you are transitioning from the temporary version of the extension to the permanent version, or if you are upgrading the permanent extension to a newer version, do not click remove in the extension options, as your data associated with the extension will be deleted.

Select the .xpi file you downloaded above, and click “Open”.

Click “Open”. The following dialog will appear. If desired, check “allow extension to run in private windows”. Click “Add”.
Your extension should now be running, and you should see the JancyX Sidebar interface appear. Click the extension icon (”boxes” icon) in the far left of the browser window to show/hide the JancyX Sidebar. You can also toggle the Sidebar with a keybind.
If you are having trouble viewing the Firefox native sidebar (vertical row of icons shown below), see Configure Firefox Toolbar for help.

(If you see the below error message, it means the extension could not authenticate with Jancy. See Configure Authentication with Jancy for help.)
